MakerSpace by DreamSpace Academy
Learn. Make. Solve. Earn.
A learning system built on demonstrated work rather than time served — four named stages of purpose, depth tracked inside subjects, one completion standard for a robot, a song and a community project — running inside a community makerspace that moves people from making, to innovation, to enterprise.
What this site is
The public reference for MakerSpace by DreamSpace Academy — the space, the model it runs on, and the education system inside it: how learning is structured, taught and evidenced.
It is written for educators, partners and funders who need to know exactly what a certificate from us means, and what the space around it is designed to do. Where something is not yet settled, this site says so.

A coherent learning system
From first curiosity to meaningful action
The journey separates two questions that most learning ladders confuse: what is this work for, and how deep does it go in which subject.
Explorer
Try materials, tools and ideas in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. Guided, and not assessed.
Maker
Build reliable capability through sustained, assessed projects in a chosen subject.
Innovator
Apply that capability to an open problem that exists outside the classroom.
Changemaker
Turn tested work into sustained contribution to a community.
The education standard
Four commitments that hold the system together
Stage describes purpose and is named, never numbered. Level describes depth inside one subject and belongs to a programme, not to a person. Completion requires evidence against a published standard, not attendance. And placement is by demonstrated capability, so prior learning counts however it was acquired. Each is set out on our approach.
Learning through the creation of shareable objects is the constructionist claim[1, 4]; systematic review finds makerspaces fostering creativity across a substantial body of studies[24, 25]; and assessment in maker settings is feasible and precedented rather than experimental[21]. The reference library lists everything this site draws on.

The space this education runs in
The learning system above is delivered inside a community makerspace and digital-education hub — one space that moves people from making, to innovation, to enterprise. The word that matters most there is the one that is not a stage: ecosystem.
The model →
The positioning, the local gap it answers, and what the MakerSpace is deliberately not.
Innovation & enterprise →
Research, entrepreneurship and business literacy built in from the first stage rather than added at the end.
Venture pathway →
Three stages, one thread and four support modes, for changemakers who take the venture route.
Replication →
How one working makerspace becomes many, and what has to stay fixed for a certificate to keep its meaning.
Measurement →
The results hierarchy, the innovation ladder, and the rules we report under.
The four verbs
Learn · Make · Solve · Earn. Three of them describe things maker education is well evidenced to do. The fourth is the reason we measure.
Our purpose
To put the capability to solve local challenges into local hands — and the conditions that keep it there.
Mission
Co-creating with underserved communities the capability to keep solving their own challenges — through education, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Vision
Communities solving their own challenges.
The goal we hold ourselves to: one hundred local challenges solved by local people, by 2050 — counted against a published definition of what a solved local challenge is, not against the number of workshops we ran.
Taking part
Joining, visiting, or working with us
This site describes how the education works. What is running right now — places, dates, language of delivery, fees or funded places, and accessibility arrangements — changes, and comes from DreamSpace Academy directly.
Learners and parents
Ask what is open now and what the placement check involves. The questions worth asking are listed, and no prior qualification is needed to start.
Schools and community organisations
Delivery runs in partnership with schools and community groups. What a partnership involves on both sides is set out under replication.
